Reminiscing Old Times

When we were growing up, there used to be a berwala right outside the school bus stop. We would buy an assortment of tangy eatables from him like ber (Indian plums of varied types), imili (raw and ready tamarind), fresh Saunf  (fennel seeds and flowers), kairis (raw mangoes) and star fruits. This one that I found at the beach reminded me of another childhood delicacy, the jamuns / jambuls (black plums). We used to pluck and eat it off the trees at school, and get caught because of purple tongues! Happy memories to have and to hold.

I remember this purple fruit very well as it grows back home in the Philippines and whenever we eat it our tongues turn to purple as well. I miss this fruit because the ones I get here in Bangkok are not as good as the ones i tasted back home.
