Listening to songs and enjoying music are two very different things. Try listening to the lyrics alone with the rhythm without any instruments playing. Then move away from the words and listen to just the instruments playing, the soul of the song. Now combine these two and hear them in totality. You will realize that they touch very different emotional chords inside your mind. Like in chemistry you’ve learnt that two elements with individually distinct properties can create a compound with a characteristic of its own. Life is like that too.
Maybe that is why parents tell their kids to mind their words and think before they speak. When you think of the word you wish to use to convey a message, it’s like listening to the rhythm of a song without the music. Your perception of how people would react to what you say is like the music without the words, the melody. When you speak your mind to people, you speak not just in words but also with your gestures. That constitutes the entire song.
