Let It Shine

How could I let Diwali pass me by without a miniature in tow? This was a dream house that I struggled to put together, so it was time to light it up with the traditional kandil (lanterns) and put up the pretty lights. I couldn’t manage to get a traditional rangoli in the scale I…

Spark of Life

I love Diwali, which you know by now if you’ve stuck around here for a while. I love the festivities, the clay lamps, lights, and the delicacies of the season. I have never been a big fan of noisy crackers, and growing up rockets that exploded into a beautiful spectacle of light were beyond reason…

Let There Be Light

I love Diwali. Apart from the common traditions, I have my own ways and means to celebrate. I tend to buy a lot of locally made clay lamps, and I love experimenting with paints of different types. I love them bright and clean; glitter or shimmer is not my thing. This year, I picked small…

Diwali Palaharam

Across the country, and because of brain drain, the world in general, Indians are busy celebrating Diwali. I personally love Diwali-the festival of lights, because it also marks my own birth in the world. Imagine what a lovely time to be born, when e world lit up to drown the darkness! Anyway, we celebrate…

Let There Be Light!

When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself. ~Tecumseh

More Fireworks!

These crackers are also a hit here. They are called flower pots, or anar. They tend to give out a lot of smoke too, but I got two hues this year, red and green. I didn’t know what to put up so I collated both together!
