It’s A Jungle Out There

It’s a jungle out there

Disorder and confusion everywhere

No one seems to care

Well I do

Hey, who’s in charge here?

It’s a jungle out there

Poison in the very air we breathe

Do you know what’s in the water that you drink?

Well I do, and it’s amazing

People think I’m crazy, ’cause I worry all the time

If you paid attention, you’d be worried too

You better pay attention

Or this world we love so much might just kill you

I could be wrong now, but I don’t think so

‘Cause there’s a jungle out there

It’s a jungle out there

We live in an age where we compete by stress levels. The more stressed we are, the more important we feel about ourselves. Have you ever tried telling anyone that you are just about to throw in the towel, only to be told that XYZ has a more important position than you, imagine how much stress they might be in and that it’s just a phase or it’s all in your head. You just need to try harder. If they can deal with it so can you. If you remind these people, how that person makes more money than you, you are branded as irresponsible or just lazy.

It’s a jungle out there

Violence and danger everywhere

It’s brother against brother

Pouding on each other

Like they would make a mess

It’s a jungle out there

It’s a jungle here too

You got a tap right on your phone

A microphone and camera check on everything you do

Call it paranoia as the saying goes

Even paranoids have their meek

It doesn’t matter how hard you try, but if you’re unhappy it is game over. Don’t think about what people are doing in Africa or Antarctica. This is your journey, even if you are mildly entitled. You need to be grateful and not take anything for granted, but that doesn’t mean you’ll have to keep comparing your situation with everybody who is less blessed than you.

I’m not the one who’s crazy, I’m not afraid of them

They’re afraid of you and me

I could be wrong there, but I don’t think so

‘Cause it’s a jungle out there

It’s a jungle out there

It’s a jungle out there

Even the cops are scared today

So if you see a uniform

Do exactly what they say

Or make a run for it

I’m only kidding with ya

‘Cause it’s a jungle out there

It’s a jungle out there

Theme of The Monk by Randy Newman

This new phase of life has taught us many new lessons. There are very few of us who actually experienced something as devastating as a pandemic. That, coupled with several natural disasters, impacting our lives on a personal level, is a lot of process. What we can do for ourselves, is to keep our sanity, as we tame the jungles within before taking on the jungle out there.
