The Feast Is Laid

Golu or Kolu is a display of dolls on odd numbered steps or padis  depicting scenes from Hindu texts, royalty, weddings or everyday scenes. While the practice dates back to centuries, it is still a huge part of Navarathri celebrations in South India. Although I have lived in western India for most part of my life, the celebrations have the same fervor. In certain parts of Mumbai city, where there is a thriving South Indian population, there are popup stalls that sell these dolls. I clicked this lovely feast scene in one such places; where people are ready to devour traditional Tamilian meals on a plantain leaf, as the server looks on.
