More Fruity Fun!

Being an agricultural nation with three distinct climates, there are certain kinds of fruits that grow at specific times of the years. These include certain kinds of apples (mainly those from Himachal Pradesh) in July, mangoes in April-May, with some variants growing during the rains, etc. Picking up from where we left off yesterday, let me show you some more variety of fruits that are found in Mumbai during the Monsoon seasons.

Top Row (L-R):  Custard Apples, Pears.
Middle Row (L-R):  Pomegranates and Apples , Peaches, Red Apples.
Last Row (L-R):  Oranges and Sweet Limes, Water, Musk and Sun Melons, Papayas.

Once again, delicious fruit, delicious photos.
The custard apples, though, look like hand grenades! What do they taste like? Surely not metallic!
And sweet limes — the very idea makes my mouth water, but I have never heard of them in the US.

Ahh Judith! they taste a bit grainy like custard, and they are pulpy too. You eat them by pealing away each of the scales and and removing the pulp around the small black seeds. It is seasonal, and taste yum, very sweet.. its tastes even better as an ice cream in a milkshake.

Sweet limes are something between lemons and oranges. they are sweet and sour, citrus fruits very rich in Vit C … so basically if u have oranges, lemons, sweet limes and grape fruits on your platter, you would end with a very acidic fruit plate with all flavors known to mankind (..well sort of)
