Weekly Photo Challenge: Morning

It is a traditional Hindu belief to start the day with a visit to the temple. I am not an overtly religious person, but I believe in a supreme being. This is a picture of Tala Cauvery, the origin of the sacred River Cauvery, which gives water to two states, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, and is…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Numbers

I didn’t think I would be able to post it in time this week, but I made it! I have a strange fascination with dice; I used to collect a lot of them as a kid. However, my collection has thinned out rapidly, and this is all that remains of the collection. I think it…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Water 2

A 7 km Rafting ride awaited us at the Beas River at Manali. This was one of the most adventurous things we had ever done, we were sitting at the head of the inflated raft! The River is not the kindest of the lot, as it is just a few 1000 kms from its point…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Water

I love these dew-kissed bell-shaped flowers. However, I took these post a mild shower. They bloom early in the morning and tend to fold in their petals at night fall. And they wake up again with day break for as long as they live. Quite an intriguing life, so much like ours!

The city was brought to international limelight by Edward James “Jim” Corbett, British hunter, conservationist and naturalist, famous for slaying a large number of man-eating tigers and leopards in…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Tiny 2

Well, she isn’t as tiny as she used to be, but she isn’t all grown up as of yet either.  We call her Milli and she lives just where my husband works, so she helps me kill time as I wait on him. (Now, he joins me for the fun, so I love her more.)…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Tiny

Although, it isn’t the prettiest thing in my collection, but it sure is the tiniest! I got it off the desk of a co-worker on a working Saturday. You can gauge its size considering that it has its base rested on the open end of a standard pencil-sharpener!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Red 4

If you are still wondering about the wind chime I posted for last week’s photo challenge, here is a closer look. And with that I end a very red week on my blog space too!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Red 3

The Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, or shoe-flower as we popularly call it here, is a beautiful  evergreen flower. It is often offered along with prayers in a temple, generally to Lord Ganesha. The name shoe-flower thus is reminiscent of its purpose, to be placed at the feet of God.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Red 2

When the cars whiz past you, everything comes to a stand still on the traffic signal. But when the little red guy appears, its time for the pedestrians to stand at the curb and see the cars zoom past. Alas, the challenge for the week is red, not green, or I would’ve had a crisper image!
