Kotilingeshwara Temple in the quaint village of Kammasandra, Karnataka boasts of one of the largest lingams in the world at 108 feet (33 meters). Manjunathasharma (CE 788-827) or Bhakta Manjunatha, an atheist brahmin is said to have insulted Shiva ten million times in his lifetime, and to acquit himself of his past sins, Bhakta Manjunatha established ten million lingas. The name “Kotilingeshwara” denotes ‘a crore ligas’. There are eleven small temples in the premises for various deities, alongside a water tank for Abhisheka. The height of the idols varies between 1 foot (0.30 m) and 3 feet (0.91 m). The place also houses is a rest house, marriage hall, meditation hall and an exhibition center.
