Weary Travellers

This has been a very strange year so far. When home is so far from where one dwells, there is so much travelling but you don’t really get anywhere. Torn between responsibilities and the warm relationships you left behind, you just don’t want to be alone… aren’t you alone most part of the year anyway?

Ho tumse se shuru.. tumpe fanaa
Hai Sufiyana yeh dastaan
Main kaarwaan manzil ho tum
Jaata jahaan ko har raasta

~ Pritam, Gerua (Dilwale)

That’s what is playing in my ears as I type. This is not about a person. This is what I see as home (Ho tumse se shuru.. tumpe fanaa/ It starts with you, and I will be destroyed for you,
Hai Sufiyana yeh dastaan/ this is one spiritual tale, Main kaarwaan manzil ho tum Jaata jahaan ko har raasta/I am the journey and you are my destination, all the roads lead to you).

While it is true, it isn’t very comforting. We tend to get so warped in circumstances that the ‘me-time off’ has become a thing of the past. November is usually my solo-tripping time of the year. As I turn older and wiser, it’s my way to test the life lessons I learnt along the way, make some new friends, unearth a few more stories, become more grateful and reflect on what went by.

Yun Hi Chala Chal Rahi…
Jeevan Gadi Hai Samay Pahiya
Aansoon Ki Nadiyan Bhi Hain, Kushiyon Ki Bagiyan Bhi Hain
Rasta Sab Tera Take Bhaiya

~Javed Akhtar, Yuhi Chala Chal Rahi (Swades)
