At the heart of Lalbaug, Bangalore is the “the Crystal Palace of India”. “The Glass House of Lalbagh” was built in 1890 as is modeled on the Crystal Palace of London. The original glass house in London turned to ashes in 1936 in a freak fire accident. It is said that this is the only model of the original.
The glass house hosts annual flower shows around the Indian Independence Day (15th August) and Republic day (26th January). The garden is home to more 350 varieties and the exhibitions has flowers such as roses, marigolds, geranium and branchycome and celosia on display. Hope to attend one in flesh soon!
