As I mentioned in my posts a few weeks back, the festival season is on in full swing in India. Yesterday marked the first day of the nine-day feast called Navratri. Each of these nine night we sing praises of one form of the Goddess Durga. This is a very important festival for us, as we follow the matriarchal system of family dominance. These include, the goddess of strength (Durga, Kali), wealth (Lakshmi) and wisdom (Saraswati). We are ardent devi worshippers, in fact, I am named after one. Kamakshi, unlike what is seems, is a form of the goddess of wealth and knowledge. I would like to know as many things as I can without worrying about finances, true to my name!

Many years ago I was thrilled to discover that in India there was a goddess of wisdom. I am and always have been a perpetual student, and Sarasvati appeared literally like an answer to prayer.

Day eight is dedicated to the goddess, we place all our books, including those of accounts and pray that she bestwoes us with effortless wisdom that we can share I come from a family of trainer, mom’s been teaching economics for 35 years now, and i did my bit as an IT trainer…i believe there’s nothing more noble than sharing knowlegde!
