Wild Fire

As the rains set in, many trees shed their flowers as a mark of respect. And one such tree is the Royal Poinciana or Flamboyant, or the Flame tree. These plants often spot red of yellow hues flowers that are edible too. Known as the Delonix regia we call it Gulmohar in Hindi where Gul’ means flower and ‘Mohr’ is ‘peacock’, because the tree resembles the tail of a peacock. I tried all through summer to get the perfect picture, and managed one just as the rain came along. Although they do tend to bloom fuller, it was worth the effort right?

We’re watching a great art course of The Teaching Company on DVD right now, husband and I —
    Very good, dynamic, informative —
So when I saw your photo today I thought of how red and green, juxtaposed, make each other more vivid–
And that’s just what happens here!
