Kathputli is a string puppet theatre that is an important art form that is a part of Rajasthani folktale culture. It is the most popular form of Indian puppetry, and an art that is practiced even today. These string puppet, are controlled by a single string that pass from the top of the puppet to the puppeteers who hide behind the makeshift theatre. Kathputli comes from two Rajasthani words, Kath meaning wood and Putli means puppet.
