Saheliyon-ki-Bari (A special garden for the royal Maidens) is more like a fountain garden at Udaipur, Rajasthan. The garden amazes you right from its door. Hidden behind its hinges is a piping system that controls the height of fountains lined for welcoming the queen and her 48 maidens. The fountains turn-off automatically as the gates close. Built by Maharana Sangram Singh and appended by Maharana Bhopal Singh , the garden also spots a lotus pool, marble elephants and pigeons that let out jets of water. The main living and recreation area is now converted in a small museum. Set on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake, legend has it that the lake was manually created on orders of King Fateh Sagar. His daughter loved the rains, and wanted the season to be recreated by her will. The water is pumped from the lake and the pipes are cleverly camouflaged under the beautiful canopies that create the magic of monsoon everyday even today!
