Goddess Saraswati is usually depicted sitting on a lotus flower. The pink lotus depicts the Supreme Reality, while a white lotus stands for the highest level of knowledge and purity. The goddess sitting on a lotus express that the deity roots herself in the Supreme Reality, and hence possesses the power of ultimate knowledge. I am named after the goddess so I am mesmerized by the flowers myself, I guess!
